911 Complete Transmission (915) 1978 -83 Five Speed with 8/31 ratio ring and pinion. Select whether you would like four or five speed.

Tech Tip
Tech Tip:
The 1978-83 915 transmission had a higher content of aluminum in the casting of the case and are stronger than the earlier mag case transmissions. They were 8/31 ring and pinion for longer gearing for the much larger 3.0 liter engines that had much better torque. The speedometer was electronic.

Core Charge   Core Charge:
All transmissions will include a core charge that will be refunded in exchange for your old transmission core. We will arrange for the pickup of the your core once you let us know that it is ready for pick up. If we rebuild your transmission there is no core charge.

Core Charge   Shipping Charges:
All transmissions will be shipped via truck freight.  The shipping charges will be calculated after your order is submitted to get you the best possible rate. A commercial address will give you much better rates than a residence. These days the trucking companies look at Google Maps to see the destination and will raise the price if the destination is residential.  Please provide the company name under "special instructions" when checking out. An additional charge is charged by the trucking company for lift gate service. All transmissions will be secured inside a wooden or plastic crate for shipping. This crate is used for the return of the core.

Used Transmissions:  Used Transmissions are warrantied to shift well and have minimal noise. Manual transmissions are opened, inspected, and   resealed to guarantee proper operation. Please always provide optional fitments or retrofit information including   the VIN #  of the car if a larger motor is installed or there is a possibility that the transmission or suspension has been changed. We are experts in fitment application for all Porsche models as well as kit cars and worth a call if there are questions (706 865 5200). Used Transmissions carry a 90 day warranty that covers the transmission itself but does not cover installation labor. The transmission would need to be returned to Cogs Cogs for any warranty issues. Warranty does not include removal or installation.

Rebuilt Transmissions:  Rebuilt Transmissions are warrantied for two years or 12,000 miles which ever comes first. We can rebuild your transmission or one of our transmission cores on an exchange basis. Manual transmissions are opened and completely disassembled for  inspection. The wear parts such as synchronizer rings, engagement teeth, and bearings are replaced as needed to guarantee proper operation with the intent of long use. Please always provide optional fitments or retrofit information including the VIN # of the car if a larger motor is installed or there is a possibility that the transmission or suspension has been changed. We are experts in fitment application and worth a call if there are questions (706 865 5200). Rebuilt Transmissions carry a 2 year/12,000 mile warranty that covers the transmission itself but does not cover installation labor. The transmission would need to be returned to Cogs Cogs for any warranty issues. Track event or non stock applications with different or larger engines warranties would be looked at on an individual basis and may not be warrantied if the transmission was abused.

Let us rebuild your transmission: It may be better to rebuild your transmission as it will keep the cars original gearbox and may be less expensive if only one or two things are wrong with the unit.  Some transmissions are too damaged to rebuild (run out of oil, Crash damage, ect) and at that point we would suggest one of our exchange units. Please give us a call if you are interested in rebuilding your transmission: 706 865 5200
